Powered by Joby Aviation, the first point of the four vertiports of the latest Dubai flying taxi is expected to come in operation in the first quarter of 2026, said the director of the Transportation Systems Department at Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA); Khaled Al Awadhi.

These statements were released on the side-lines of the Exhibition on Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS World Congress) and World Congress in Dubai.

This project is considered an ambitious step in the entire field of Autonomous air transportation. The main behind this step is to provide a modern and efficient means of transportation. The upcoming air taxis will serve different areas of the city, with the main focus on linking the service to hotels and the airport,” he further added.

As per the statement released by Al Awadhi, “the innovative initiative promises swift and safe mobility between key locations in the Emirate, offering passengers a futuristic mode of travel above the cityscape.”

The general manager for the Middle East, Job Aviation, Tyler Trerotola said, “these electric air taxis will operate from four vertiports such as:”

  1. Dubai International Airport
  2. Palm Jumeirah
  3. Marina
  4. Downtown Dubai

Dubai Air Taxis are designed in a way that it will carry a pilot and four passengers at 320 kmph, which infers that passengers can get from DXB airport to Palm Jumeirah in only 10-12 minutes as compared to 24 minutes by car, he further stated.

The leader in vertiport infrastructure for the Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) industry, Skyports Infrastructure, signed during the World Governments Summit in February a definitive agreement with the RTA (Dubai Road and Transport Authority) and all-electric aircraft company Joby Aviation to launch passenger air taxi services in the city of Dubai by the first quarter of 2026.
