The Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA) – an arm of Dubai Land Department calls all the property owners who are residing in jointly owned properties to take this initiative and register for the Owners committee. This decision has been made in sync with the Jointly Owned Property Law in Dubai and with RERA’s continuous efforts to enhance transparency and ensure the property’s sustainability in the Emirate.

The property owners who are interested in joining the Owners committees are required to meet a certain criterion, which includes:

  • Must be a resident and residing in the property
  • Must have a valid UAE ID
  • Must provide a certificate of good conduct issued by the Dubai Police
  • Must settle all the outstanding service fees.

RERA has further clarified that the registration is open till January 31, 2025. The priority will be given to the first 9 registrants. The members who will become a part of the owners committee will be approved by RERA, and the members of the committee for each group will further be announced in the month of February. The property owners can register themselves for the owners committee via the DLD website or the Dubai REST app.

“Automating the registration process of Owners committee aims to streamline procedures and ensure effortless coordination between Owner’s committees and management companies,” said the Acting CEO of RERA; Mohammad Ali Al Badwawi.

“Owners Committees are an integral part of the emirate’s vision for managing jointly owned properties. They play a crucial role in achieving real estate sustainability by reviewing budgets, prioritizing maintenance requirements for buildings and common facilities, and providing feedback on service plans,” he further stated.

The Owners committee are not just mere tools for managing the property but also serve as a means to promote and foster the aesthetic values of community engagement and collaboration.

“Registering in Owners Committees provides property owners with an opportunity to actively participate in decision-making within their residential communities,” The Director of the Jointly Owned Properties Management Department at RERA; Mohammad Al Dah, affirmed. “These committees play a vital role in safeguarding investments and ensuring the highest levels of efficiency and transparency. We urge all eligible property owners who meet the necessary criteria to take the initiative and register for these committees, as they are fundamental to enhancing project management and the well-being of residents,” he further stated.
