On Monday, Bangladeshi PM Sheikh Hasina fled to India in a helicopter, leaving behind her Dhaka Palace and landing at the Hindon Air Base near New Delhi. She ended her 15-year rule in the country ended because of the ongoing protests against a quota system for government jobs that further took the shape of violence and became a broader challenge for her. The protests have killed at least 300 people.
Sheikh Hasina, who is 76, had earlier thought to put a stop to the deadly protests, but after seeing the brutal conditions, she fled on Monday after protests in which more than 100 people lost their lives.
After she fled, the protestors looked overjoyed and waved flags, celebrating her exit from the country by dancing atop the tanks. At least 56 people lost their lives in Dhaka as protestors moved forcefully towards buildings after the Prime Minister was expelled from power, said a police officer.
44 out of the dead people were brought to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital. According to the evidence, it was reported that all the bodies had bullet wounds.
Without any further delays, after Sheikh Hasina left Dhaka, the country’s Army Chief Waker-Uz-Zaman said in a broadcast to the nation on state television that he would form an interim government.
