A decision made by the authorities to combat unwanted sales calls
The Ministry of Economy and the Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TRA), UAE released new regulations that, “UAE Cold callers will face fines of AED 150K.” This new rule will be implemented from the month of August. This new decision has been made to combat unwanted sales calls.
The new guidelines include:
- Telemarketing calls can only be made between 9:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. Calls made outside these hours will be prohibited.
- Companies need a prior approval from the highest authorities to carry out telemarketing calls.
- Companies are restricted from calling the customers again if they wish to reject the service or the product in the very first conversation.
- Customers can lodge a complaint against the company with the authorities if rules are breached by the tele callers.
- Telemarketers cannot call the customer again if the call has been declined or not answered.
The above rules apply to all the companies in the UAE, including the areas that falls under free zones such as Jebel Ali Free Zone (JAFZA), Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC), Dubai Internet City and DMCC.
