World Future Energy Summit 2025

DEWA (Dubai Electricity and Water Authority) highlighted its prominent projects and innovative initiatives in the Sustainability and clean energy. This project is a part of its participation as Efficiency Partner of the World Future Energy Summit (WFES) 2025. This event is hosted by the Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company (Masdar) and the visitors of the event will learn about the DEWAs most notable projects and its progresses in diverse areas of research and development, innovation and smart technologies, as well as state-of-the-art efforts to lay the foundation for a greener future and to support sustainable development.

DEWA’s stand is in Hall Number 5 i.e. The Energy Hall at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre from 14th of January 2025 to 15th of January 2025.

DEWA’s stand will offer a model of the Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park i.e. the largest solar park globally that is single-site, using the Independent Power Producer (IPP) model. The current production capacity of this solar park is 2,860 MW. It uses world-class photovoltaic solar panels and concentrated solar power (CSP) technologies, with 1,800 MW under construction.

By the year 2030, approx. 27% of Dubai’s energy production capacity will be taken and sourced from renewable and clean energy.

At the DEWA’s Sustainability and Innovation Centre, that is located at the Mohammad Bin Rashid AL Maktoum Solar Park, visitors will be offered an immersive experience. The latest innovation in sustainability and clean energy technology will be showcased. Through the metaverse technology, the centre provides a virtual tower of the solar park.

The R & D Centre of DEWA reinforces Dubai’s position as a global hub for the purpose of research in the field of solar power, Smart grids, energy efficiency, and capacity building. The centre published 263 Scopus-indexed scientific and research papers in high-impact, peer-reviewed journal, and international Scientific conferences. Moreover, the Research and Development centre by DEWA has filed 42 patent applications to protect its intellectual property.

DEWA’s Space Programme, Space D, aids the development, maintenance, and planning of the Dubai’s Electricity and Water networks, further improving the efficiency and effectiveness of DEWAs generation, distribution, and transmission divisions. As a part of the World Future Energy Summit 2025, DEWA launched 2 nanosatellites – DEWA-SAT 1 in January 2022 and DEWA-Sat 2 in April 2023 – making DEWA the premier utility globally to use nanosatellites that will further enhance the operational performance.

The EV Green Charger Initiative launched in 2014 supports Dubai’s vision to become the happiest and smartest city across the world whilst promoting green mobility. The number of green charging stations across the city of Dubai now exceeds with a capacity of 740 charging points as most stations can only charge 2 vehicles at the same time.

The stand by the DEWA will also reflect the characteristics of the smart grid developed, which will further help to enhance the energy transmission and distribution efficiency, reduce the loss, and improve the electricity load management. The quick, seamless, and effective operation of the smart grid has enabled DEWA to achieve competitive results that will surpass the prominent global utilities in terms of reliability and efficiency. DEWA recently received the “Smart Grid Project of the Year – UAE’ award for its Distribution Automation Smart Grid projects at the Asian Power Awards 2024.
