Dubai’s Palm Jebel Ali will be a home to more than 35K families.
The work on the re-launched Palm Jebel Ali mega project has started. According to a statement released by Nakheel Properties, “Among the contracts is one to build a 6km-long public access road from Sheikh Zayed Road to the palm-shaped master development.”
A local contractor, named DBB Contracting will build the access road and a construction road, serving the central portion of the island.
The contract for improving the roadway and lighting of Al Hesah Street (formerly known as the old Abu Dhabi Road) at Dubai Waterfront, the mainland route connecting to Palm Jebel Ali, was awarded to Khansaheb Civil Engineering, a part of Khansaheb Group. The worth of the contract was not released.
Palm Jebel Ali mega project was launched in 2002, but it was kept on hold due to the global financial crisis since around 2009. However, the project has been re-launched and is all set to become a major residential and leisure hub. Not only this, this island will also be a home to more than 35K families, contributing to Dubai’s projected net increase in residents, which is set to reach nearly six million people by 2040.
In September 2023, Nakheel announced the sale of the first villas on Palm Jebel Ali’s four “fronds”. Nakheel Properties, a renownened developer in Dubai is also the owner of Jumeirah Village Circle, that is popular among expats.
