Dubai Metro

Passengers will need to add a minimum of AED50 from August 17, while topping up their nol cards to commute via Dubai Metro. Roads and Transport Authority of Dubai has announced a change to the minimum top-up fare for nol cards at Dubai Metro ticket offices.

In a statement released by RTA via X (formerly Twitter), RTA said “Your #PublicTransport trips are smoother with #RTA’s digital services. Top up your nol Card anywhere with the amount you want via nol Pay app, RTA website or RTA Dubai app, to secure your trip and save time. Starting August 17, 2024, the minimum top-up at Metro station ticket offices will increase to AED 50.”

Hike in Minimum Top-Up Amount Ticket Offices

This initiative by RTA encourages passengers to utilise online top-up methods for more flexibility in recharge amounts.

These include the nol Pay mobile application, the RTA website, the RTA Dubai app, or via nol card top-up. Commuters must have a balance of Dh15 on their Nol card to cover a single round trip on the Metro transit network. Nol is a prepaid smart card used to pay for public transport across Dubai, including Dubai Metro, buses, trams, and waterbuses. It can also be used to pay for taxi fares, parking, entrance to Dubai public parks, Etihad Museum, and more than 2,000 shops, restaurants, and stores around the city.
