The United Arab Emirates has adopted a set of values and concepts that represent the pillars of its modern power, including ways on elevating women’s empowerment since its establishment, the foundations of which have been laid down due to the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. Among all these, the most critical and appreciating act was celebrating the values of women and allowing them their right place in society as partners with men in the process of construction, development and comprehensive development, so that the wise leadership can complete what the founding father Zayed, the giver of goodness and generosity, started by building a unique model for a civilized society that has become a source of inspiration in many areas, most notably women’s empowerment and achieving gender balance, which has qualified the Emirates to achieve successive qualitative leaps in its global ranking according to reports and indicators International competitiveness to become the first regionally and seventh globally in the Gender Equality Index issued by the United Nations Development Program.
Throughout this journey of ups and downs, Emirati women have proven their ability and responsibility in several fields and jobs, and have secured respectable positions, with the continuous support and encouragement of the wise leadership, until the Emirati experience in supporting and empowering women has become a global model to be emulated.
Global Forum
As part of these Emirati efforts and initiatives to raise women’s empowerment at the international level, the Emirate of Dubai organized the “Global Women’s Forum” in its previous two sessions in 2016 and 2020 that drawn global attraction and visitors. This event constituted a prominent international platform to discuss women’s issues and enhance their role in sustainable development at the local and international levels. The launch of the event, was held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and organized by the “Dubai Women Establishment”, in collaboration with prestigious international organizations and bodies. During its previous two sessions, it confirmed its position as a unified, single platform for thought leaders, policy makers and entrepreneurs from around the world to discuss ideas that would grant women their rightful place in the global development process, guarantee their rights and define their duties towards their society
With the support and vision of the wife of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, Her Highness Sheikha Manal bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President of the UAE Gender Balance Council and President of Dubai Women Establishment, the forum has become an influential global forum to discuss the role and contributions of women in various development paths and to seek – through in-depth. dialogues and inspiring working sessions – to find solutions to the challenges that women continue to face in some parts of the world.
