G7 Summit was attended by the world leaders on the topic of “Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Energy”
UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan participated in the G7 Summit Session hosted by Italy. The topic of the session was Artificial Intelligence and Energy, under the theme “Energy and Artificial Intelligence/ Africa and the Mediterranean Region.”
Giorgia Meloni, the Prime Minister of Italy inaugurated the session. Sheikh Mohammad said, “The world is currently facing numerous challenges with a particularly significant impact on the Middle East and Africa, especially in the energy sector.” He emphasised more on the need for collective action and cooperation in addressing these challenges by leveraging emerging and innovative technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), to offer sustainable solutions in the energy sector.
He further proclaimed the UAE’s keenness to build an integrated system for Artificial Intelligence through various programs, legislations, initiatives, and partnerships. Later, he reflected his efforts to use AI technologies to identify effective solutions for energy sustainability, energy security, and achieve sustainable economic and social development.
This summit also supports a fair and balanced transition in the energy sector, deriving from the UAE Consensus, which is a perfect example that served as a successful model for international cooperation. At the end of his speech, there was a video representation which highlighted the UAEs ambitious vision and aspirations to invest in Artificial Intelligence to advance sustainable energy and prosperity.
Also, the video showcased the UAEs significant achievements and initiatives in this field, reflecting insights from several experts and officials, including Omar Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications, and Faisal Al Bannai, Advisor to the UAE President for Strategic Research and Advanced Technology Affairs.
